World cup.. India’s performance!

The fever is on!! For once I do not mean the most hated chikenguniya or dengue, I am referring to the world cup fever!

Much debating has taken place over India’s dismal performance in the opening match. True, the “Men in blue” could have done better. The batting was dismal, so was the bowling. The poor performance left the cricket crazy millions stunned and angry.

I have been reading about the attacks on the houses of cricket players, burning of effigies of our captain, and condemning remarks about the team. While the anger and resentment is truly justified, the way it has been dealt with is not probably expected of responsible citizens of the Country.

Let’s remember that it is the same team that we glorified each time they won. It is the same Rahul Dravid that we named our King, and the same Dhoni who was considered an Icon. Just one poor performance cannot overwrite all their achievements.

To get to the elite 12, each and every member has put in his best. Mistakes and failed strategies are a part and parcel of every game. It is rightly said that “the greatness of man lies, not in never falling down, but in rising every time he falls”. Let’s help Team India rise from their fall. Let’s reconfirm our support and wish them luck.

Cricket is just a game. A game will have a winner and a loser. What we now have to do as true Indians is to stand up and voice our support for the 12 representatives of Indian cricket. The game is not over yet, our voice of cheer will definitely be a motivating factor for our cricketers. More than anything, we have to say “Let the best team win”, but hope that the best team is our own Indian team!

Go Get it India!!
