What my kids taught me!

I often talk aloud to myself, and today was no exception. I was totally stressed after a bad day at work and mused that I should write something to ease my stress. “Mom, write about warm blooded and cold blooded creatures”, said my son with great enthusiasm. “Yeah, warm blooded, like me and cold blooded...like him”, volunteered my daughter, before she darted out of the room suppressing a giggle, with my son following close at heals threatening to kill her. I could hear their innocent, uncontaminated laughter ringing in my ears, long after they had left for school!

How I long to laugh like them!! Why did I ever have to grow up? Why is it that the innocence and wonder in the child’s eye is replaced with worry and helplessness as we grow up? Where do we lose that enthusiasm to live and happiness in little things? How is that we fail to notice the rainbow or listen the winds? Why do we stop deriving pleasure from life’s little offerings?

Just take a moment and look around you, Life is so full of promise, so full of joy. Yes, it is rightly said that “There is nothing sadder in this world than to awake Christmas morning and not be a child”. So, let that child in you not die a slow death. Rekindle the curiosity in life, explore the unexplored, gaze at the stars and listen to the sea and never resist the urge to throw a snowball!

A man is not old until regrets take place of dreams… I hope to keep dreaming!!

Hi Vidhya
Another delightful piece! Keep it up! Growing up is an inevitable process and don't forget that our children need space in this 'non-expanding' earth. I fully agree that one should continue to dream and keep the child within each one alive and kicking.

One small suggestion: Reading white in black is slightly disturbing to my eyes. I don't know what others feel. The combination looks good in projected presentations, but may be jarring in the screen.
Keep the good work, my friend.

Shankar,

Wonderful! Thanks for your comments. I have removed the blindfold (read black color) from my blog. Hope this helps!
